Lot West Texas
You have to pull the plastic strip from the strip of tar on the roof shingles?
I live in West Texas and have been doing this .... many contractors say no and I believe it because they just do not want to take these time.so .. I know helpes to close and hold down shingles better .. but would like other people for the sake of argument the response .. I'm still going to rip them. Some say its only for delivery?
Asked the same contractor's Q w / answers to the mix. No one said it was a "bad" things to do ... just do not need (more to clean up?). All agree that they should keep the shingles from sticking during shipping. It may not be a problem so many in the Texas heat. Im in NY & I re-roofed garage in cold weather Thinking that because they heat the tab called, I remove the plastic strip. It can be said that the roof I am doing is flat & tight than what is done by the "pro" on the rest of the house. It could just be that I just take my time? Go back, strip the paper & Not a thin perforated plastic you are now seeing that can be designed to stay in place. Some roofing material board may have a definitive answer, but I was wo'nt around to care. Best regards
