When carrying out the process of Appreciative Inquiry, how the process of 200 interviews of 9 questions each in 3 weeks?
We are a team of 8 of the student conduct Appreciative inquiry process as described in the work by Jane Magruder Watkins, Bernard J. Mohr, and Mark Lau Branson for our church congregation of 350 or more. We have nearly completed 200 interviews directly with the help of 20 or more additional lay leaders we must be trained to conduct interviews. We now need a methodology, efficient but can relied upon to digest response and extraction of all themes. We plan to invite the entire congregation to participate in selecting the top 3-5 themes that resonate with them. Given the experience us, we are not sure how to proceed at this time. Any useful experience and insight will be appreciated. Thank you!
That's a lot of information. Well, you have to do what which is widely referred to as "content analysis". This basically means that you have to filter the content and try to identify themes. To improve the reliability process this and try to remove individual bias, what you can do is have two or three groups working independently and filter responses and come up with a guess at most 10 themes. Each group must keep track of the responses included in the theme. Then the group should get together and compare their themes. which they agree? Answering questions It will provide the theme you have the most confidence in. Then the group should focus on individual themes for each group. They should discuss how they came up with themes of each interview and the responses made them create that theme. Another group should explain how they interpreted these responses and how they are placed responses into different categories. It's a back-and-forth process, but eventually you may be able to come up with themes that may be 6-8 all groups can agree on. Perhaps numbers is less or more, I can not say because I have not seen your data. Open-ended With such data, there is no statistical technique but you try to approach the analysis with careful manner, working independently and then try to verify what separate groups found .. it should work Mind if I add in a plug for somthing I think you will find interesting?
