If you see yourself as a HAMMER, you see everything and everyone else as a NAIL! I'm not sure who it was that said that; however, they know a lot about psychology. Obama is good at SPEECHES, so is anyone surprised that he likes to give a LOT of SPEECHES?

As someone said three weeks ago, "The president needs to go on vacation".

But, as fate would have it, Obama wasn't out of sight for two days before Ted Kennedy died and Obama is back giving a SPEECH. This over exposure, as I see it, is eventually going to make his STRENGTH a weakness. So, where am I going with this?

BACK TO SHCOOL!

Obama wants to DIRECTLY speak to our kids. Why? The speech is "about the value of education and the importance of staying in school as part of his effort to dramatically cut the dropout rate," an aide said. But, isn't that the role of the local school district administrator, not to mention the PARENTS!

The "original speech" was about "HELPING OBAMA".

Obama administration is rethinking its course recommendations for students ahead of President Obama's address to the nation's schoolchildren next week, rewriting its suggestions to teachers for student assignments on how to "help the president." White House aides said the language was supposed to be an inspirational, pro-education message to America's youths, but its unintended consequences were evident.

Unintended? Hmm

Among the activities initially suggested for pre-K to 6th grade students was to "write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president." Another assignment for students after hearing the speech was to discuss what "the president wants us to do." How about what our PARENTS want us to do.

We already have more of the NANNY STATE than we need- much more!

The suggestion about writing letters has since been changed to: "Write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short-term and long-term education goals. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals."

Federal statute denies any authority to the Department of Education to provide any kind of curriculum or anything that can be passed down to the state, and that's part of the statute forming the Department of Education. So they got themselves into this mess because they didn't really understand some of the key legal roles or the dos and don'ts at the federal Department of Ed.

How about we keep the president on the MAJOR issues of providing a common defense, leading us through dangerous International waters, and staying out of the MICRO MANAGING such as: buying industries that are in trouble, firing CEO's of other corporations, and telling our kids what they should or should not be doing?
