More actors and actresses are struggling to make ends meet in LA and are spending their time on waiting tables instead of honing their craft. Because of this, many people in the entertainment industry have now moved to other cities such as Seattle, Washington and Albuquerque, New Mexico. One example are some women wanting to be models in LA found out the Seattle models can make a better living by getting booked through a Seattle modeling firm than one in LA or New York.
Los Angeles and Hollywood, California have had many people move there from all around the world if they want to try to make a living in the entertainment business. Many actors and singers from other parts of the country often dream of heading West to Hollywood to make it big. Unfortunately because of this frequent occurrence, the Los Angeles area is bursting at the seams with actors and actresses trying to make it in the business. In addition to the overpopulation problem, the cost of living in that part of California is astronomical and tough to survive in while attempting to get your foot in the door for a movie or television show.
Why should people move to Seattle? The first reason is the proximity it has to Los Angeles and the fact that is still on the same time zone helps greatly if access to go to LA for a reason comes up. Seattle is a thriving very hip and current city that has a lot going for it. It is set right on the water with access by ferry to Victoria, BC which is a great place to visit as well. The population in Seattle is younger than most cities too and the entertainment industry has really boomed here in the past 10-15 years with enormous donations made to the arts by local mogul Bill Gates. Opportunities for theatre, modeling and some commercial work are abundant and a great way to get going in your craft.
Albuquerque, New Mexico is now the new city to be in if you want to work in movies. In the past 5 years, several movies have been shot in this location due to the lower cost of housing a facility and the cost of access to the wide open land here also. Many movie studio warehouses have been built here and because it is so much cheaper to film in this state than in California it has been a popular decision to do so for many film directors and producers. Many people working in films behind the scenes have realized this and have now moved to Albuquerque permanently and are getting more work than they know what to do with.
The lower cost of living in New Mexico allows those that are making films or even acting in films to live luxuriously for a low price and the views are pretty spectacular too. Major motion picture actress Julia Roberts spends as much time as she can on her ranch in New Mexico and many actors are following her lead.
